Well, at least in regards to Nursing School. I have officially finished (and passed!) Pediatrics! Can't you tell I am excited in the picture? :) haha This was truly the hardest class so far in school. Mostly because I have no interest whatsoever in Pediatric nursing. I like kids but even the ones that aren't sick are a bit foreign to me so I'm really out of my element with the sick ones! Final grades haven't been posted just yet for Theory but I'm pretty sure I made a C. My first C in nursing school. :( I was only 6 points away from a B but I'm not too bothered by it...a C gets me out of that class just as much as a B does!
The great news is that I made an A in Clinical!! Only 2 out of the 9 of us made As so I'm pretty proud of that. Remember that Teaching Project I did with Gina's 2nd grade class? I finally got my paper back from that and my instructor gave me a 100! I did have one good clinical experience a couple of weeks ago with a 5 year old. She had surgery and I cared for her the day after her operation. We played in the playroom together and I also got to take out one of her drains and her IV. I got to apply a lot of the growth and development stuff we learned in class when playing with her as well as when gaining her cooperation so that I could take out her drain and IV. Before she left, she gave me a matching bracelet that said "Best Friend". :) That was definitely good evidence to show my instructor!
I am now on Spring Break (except that it's 43 degrees outside!) until March 24th when I start my next 8 week rotation in OB/GYN. I'm really looking forward to it. My clinicals are at Arlington Memorial Hospital which is where I was born so that's kind of neat to come back full circle like that. It will be another tough 8 weeks but at least I have a bit of an interest in OB/GYN. In the meantime, my books are put away and I plan on catching up on the rest of my life. There are some things around the house I want to get done and I am also scheduled to work a couple of nights at Baylor.
I'll post again once I start my next rotation...take care!!
